FS2004 Classic AI Aircraft and Traffic

By Tom Gibson and Mike Stevens

AI aircraft modifications by Tom Gibson tgibson@sunstroke.sdsu.edu
See the text file's in each aircraft's folder for the original plane's credits and details. If the painter of a given livery is different from the plane's author listed in the text file, see the text file in the texture folder for the credits. The rest of the text (animation, installation, etc.) should be ignored. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort!

Other flyable aircraft, panels, California 1959 scenery, etc. are available at Tom Gibson's Cal Classic Propliners, http://www.calclassic.com/

Version 8 10/04 New worldwide coverage!

These aircraft are designed to be used as an AI aircraft within FS2004. These planes have animated gear, flaps, wheels, and props.

PLEASE NOTE that these planes will NOT show up in the Select Aircraft menu; they are not meant for you to fly. If you change the aircraft type from 2 to 0 using AirEd or change to flyable in AITM, they will be found under AI Propliner in the Select Aircraft menu.

Note: Some airline names cannot be pronounced by FS ATC (like Western and Pacific for example); you can change them to the closest allowable names (like Skywest and Pacifica), or download and install EditVoicePack 3, which has most of the correct airline names included. A package of voice pack imports is also available for those not available elsewhere.

This package also includes a realistic traffic file with flights in/into the state of California. It also includes two files for the default FS2004 traffic in the rest of the world replaced by propliners. While the majority of aircraft will be accurately placed, you will see some errors due to the nature of the routes from the default files. If you have too much traffic, remove one of the modified default files.

If you aren't sure which file does what, see the file descriptions below these installation instructions.

Installation Instructions for ai2k41.zip through ai2k47.zip, ai2k4NFR.zip, and ai2k4M.zip:

NOTE: ai2k4T.zip and ai2k4EVP.zip have different installation instructions, found inside those packages!!

For each of these files, the installation is identical:

1. Unzip this file archive into a temporary folder. You will find this text file and a file called Unzip into Main FS2004 Folder.zip. (WinXP: double click the zip file, copy the contents into a temporary folder)

2. Unzip the "Unzip into Main FS2004 Folder.zip" file into your main FS2004 folder (the one with fs9.exe in it), and it will place all the files into their correct positions. (WinXP: right click the "Unzip into Main FS2004 Folder.zip" file and select Extract All... Then use the browse button to find your your main FS2004 folder (the one with FS9.exe in it).) If it says a file/folder already exists and do you want to overwrite, say yes.

After installation of all the files, start FS2004 and you will have propliner traffic in California and the world!

Enjoy!

There are 11 files that make up this package.

A. Seven required AI Aircraft files:

ai2k41.zip through ai2k47.zip: The frame rate friendly AI planes that make up the scheduled AI traffic.

B. There are two extra AI aircraft files, which are optional:

ai2k4NFR.zip: This file file contains planes that are less frame rate friendly than the rest (Hermes and IL-18). Do not install this if you already have frame rates that are very low (however they are not present in large numbers, so you may want to try them anyway).

ai2k4M.zip: These are miscellaneous aircraft that are not included in the scheduled Traffic files (military, cargo, CV-580/600/640, WAL and NWA DC-3).

C. One AI Traffic file:

ai2k4T.zip: The Traffic file. This will use scenery layers so you can switch between modern and propliner traffic.

D. One Editvoicepack Import File (optional)

ai2k4EVP.zip: This provides files for you to import into your voice pack, using EditVoicePack3 (http://bevelstone.xs4all.nl/FlightSimulator/EditVoicepack).
